The Religion program at Resurrection School is central to our school’s curriculum. In addition to the basic religious instructional program, the school provides assistance in sacramental preparation, family life instruction, and also provides opportunities to attend liturgies, prayer services, and penance services.
The Sadlier Religion Series is the textbook series used in Grades 1-8.
Sacramental preparation is also part of the Religion curriculum. Second grade students are prepared for the reception of Reconciliation and First Communion.
A comprehensive faith formation program is offered through Resurrection Parish. We have activities, groups, and initiatives to help both children and adults grow in their faith.
For students in PreK to 2nd grade, we offer Children's Liturgy of the Word during 10:30 a.m. Mass through the school year. These kids are invited to the front of church at the start of the Liturgy of the Word, where instructors then lead them to the school. During this time, instructors help students hear the Word of God in a way that's easily understandable for them.
For students in kindergarten to 9th grade who attend a public school or who are homeschooled, we offer Religious Education classes during the school year. These classes typically take place every other Sunday at 9 a.m. in the primary school hallway. Our Religious Education classes combine instruction with fun activities to help students explore and deepen their understanding of our Catholic faith.
During the summer, we provide faith formation prayer kits each weekend to help parents keep their elementary-aged kids engaged in the faith. Kits contain prayers, stories, activities, and crafts and feature a different theme each week.
Every summer, we also partner with St. Joe parish to offer Vacation Bible School for kids entering kindergarten through 4th grade. Vacation Bible School typically takes place over four days during the third week of June. Watch the bulletin for more details.
For adults, we created a Moms Morning Bible study that meets in the church cry room on Thursday mornings after school drop-off. These women have completed several studies since they began meeting during the 2023-2024 school year. We also offer other Bible studies periodically throughout the year. OCIA classes begin each Fall. These are designed for any adults who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith or who wish to join the Catholic church. Resurrection offers monthly parish-wide Eucharistic Adoration on the third Thursday of each month through the school year. We also launched annual Welcome retreat weekends for men and women in the parish who want to create new bonds with fellow parishioners while deepening their faith.
These are some of the opportunities we offer to help our parishioners grow their relationship with Christ.
